Another adventure...another blog.
Tough Mudder was tough. When we finished (4 hours after we started) I felt like I could eat a whole zebra. I was hungry and tired and sore. It was awesome but I was ruined. Husband, on the other hand, was bouncy, full of beans..."I could keep going." he said.
"well I bloody couldn't" I said as I peered at him through my 1non mud filled contact lens.
Walking into maccas after the race with Rardi my bro and husband, wearing a towel and unable to hear out of my mud filled right ear I thought I heard husband say he wanted to run a marathon. I must have misheard him... A marathon?
Maybe he said he wanted to have a bun and marry a Pom? It turns out that, no, he really thought he would try his hand at the marathon.
A few weeks later after a "break" (read Tim tam eating frenzy) we purchased a how to run a marathon book and I started to do some research. Ever supportive wife that I am I thought I could help husband train.
Then it happened, I got the bug, I too could do a marathon! Maybe...
So here we are blogging about our journey.
Like the last journey (we went on a trip around Australia in case you missed it) this one would be long, sometimes hard, lots of fun and a real challenge.
Join us as we go from mud to 42km.

It begins with the Arnolds...
It's been about a month since Tough Mudder Sydney (September 2012) and you can check out their website here. Tough Mudder is a 20km run with 28 obstacles involving plenty of gooey mud. Our team, The Arnolds (Krystal, Gerard and myself), finished in about 4 hours and the worst part would have to be electric eel. 10000 volts of arm jerking, humming electrical taser goodness.
Our hydration strategy of about 9L in 48hrs got us through the race without a single cry of thirst or a need to drink at the water stations. We came out feeling pretty tired but comfortable. So...
We decided to train for the full marathon next year in the Blackmores Sydney. The full 42.2km....
Here is a diary about our training and mental obstacles!
In summary, my plan is to spend the first three months with resistance work in the gym; the second three months working on speed, pace and endurance; and the last three months working on distance. Wish me luck...
